The rift between charedim and the rest of Israel grows even better, not worse. If the non-Haredi electorate gets angry enough, the taboo on Arabs in the government will be replaced with a taboo in Haredim in the government.
....and talk about life imitating art, the coalition MK who presented the draft bill to the Knesset (in place of Gallant, who needed to be elsewhere) was non other than Aguda MK Meir Porash.
My wife was at a Simcha of a Chareidi family this week and noticed the contrast between their Simcha and a Daati Leumi family Simcha… lots of young men. It was so upsetting that she had to leave.
Not related to Rabbi Slifkin's posting but related to your comment, my wife and I have been to many daati leumi as well as charedi weddings. We have noticed that the charedi weddings are always so solemn, very little simcha. Half the time, the boy (and/or the girl) seem ready to puke. Whereas, at the DL weddings, the simcha was out of this world. Everyone so joyous.
Charedim will adduce (dubious) support for their position from the much-visited Gemora of Torah Maigin that they ARE, somehow, contributing as much (if not more) to the war efforts as the soldiers.
The reason they will never change is a deeply entrenched superiority complex, drummed in from Yeshiva days, that places Bnei Torah at the pinnacle of civilisation. They want to stay as far away from DL, Mizrachi or Chiloni as possible, especially if it means making life easier for them, in terms of not sacrificing their sons' lives in the army......
unless it's a matter of money, in which case even the much reviled ModOx will become most beloved friends, if it's people like the Schottenstein family who bankroll the learning.
If they can't appreciate the unfairness of their position from a moral perspective, they will likely appreciate it from a financial one. The only thing that speaks to them is money.
אב המון גויים in that Hashem saw אברהם as declaring and promoting the idea of the one G-d and to promote justice and righteousness. Therefore the Rambam ruled that a גר can say אלוקינו ולואקי אבותינו even though biologically the גר is not a descendent.
This move highlights a legitimate concern from the Haredi sector. The accommodations to the religious soldiers are subject to reduction or annulment from the state. Emergencies are inevitable and sometimes are contrived to take away rights that were previously negotiated and agreed to.

Let's hope so.
That cartoon is amazing ;-)

See him speak about the shortage of soldiers, and how drafting the Mechina students is critical: https://twitter.com/KnessetT/status/1752980313762931112
Withdraw the money an they'll come to heel

I’ve found that difference between weddings in Israel and Chul but not by Hashkafa. In Peninei Halacha, he offers a beautiful reason
Where is the more simcha, Isreal or Chul?
This war is going to make a lot of changes in the Israeli public, especially among veterans and their families.

Quotas for Yeshivot to supply army recruits or no money.
You are entirely right. The survival of the state is at stake.
Rabbi, once again thank you for your thoughtful and informative post.
יש שלוש סיבות למה חרדים לא משרתים בצה'ל כי בה
פריצות גילוי עריות ועבודה זרה
Hide from the world and you will be safe and holy. Let someone else do it for you.
זה ההבדל בין נח לאברהם
Avraham literally fought a battle to save his nephew.
אברהם הוא אב המון גויים
לא רק עם ישראל
אז למה להישאר במדינת ישראל? לכו לאפגניסטן.

In Israel but it wasn’t a wedding
