This post brought tears to my eyes. As a ben chu”l, I stand in awe (and no small measure of embarrassment) before those of our brethren who have the moral, spiritual, and physical fortitude to settle, defend, and build up our homeland.
May the Mighty One of Israel protect your son and all his comrades, grant them strength to defeat our enemies, and hasten the end of our long exile.
Once when I was using the canister for my Tefillin, a hareidi yeshiva student approached me in all seriousness to say I was being disrespectful to my tefillin by stacking them on top of each other rather than side by side in a bag….

Reminds me of my son’s tefillin & choices, and although his path was not the same, I could not be more proud!
