Someone needs to arrange for ambassador Huckabee to visit a Hesder Yeshiva and show him the merits of achieving excellence in learning with the best military service. Don’t put anyone else down, just let him see for himself.

I beg to differ. What Rabbi Hofstedter did crossed a big red line (after so many other red lines crossed by Chareidi representatives). If any other community in Israeli society had tried to ask ambassador Huckabee for help in drafting Chareidim, a minute wouldn't go by before the Chareidim started screaming "Moisrim" and how dare we ask the goyim for help in our internal conflicts against other Jews.

You make a good point—if the tables were turned, the Charedim would go ballistic. I’m sure the Ambassador isn’t naïve; he likely understands that there are multiple sides to this debate. He didn’t wholeheartedly agree with the Charedi leadership on the issue; rather, he simply stated that we need both scholars and soldiers. That’s absolutely true, and it’s precisely what Hesder provides. Extending an invitation for him to visit these institutions could be hugely beneficial.

Accusing Rabbi Hofstedter etc. of Mesiroh will not help the cause, as they will see it as attacking Charedim again. I don't think its possible to reason with them, rather use logic on a sensible Ambassador.

"it’s the designated path for a full third of all first-graders in Israel."

I assume you mean a third of all *male* first-graders (charedi females won't serve in the army either, but they also won't learn)

Correct. The designated path of charedi girls is not to serve in the IDF, not to do national service, and to work in a medium-level job to barely support an entire large family that is being raised to be similiarly dependent on a welfare state.
