Trigger warning: If you care about Israel and the Jewish People, this post will be deeply disturbing.

While soldiers are killed, while soldiers commit suicide, while reservists are away from their families for nearly two years due to the manpower shortage, causing the shattering of careers and family life and sometimes marriages, charedim continue to refuse to help ease the burden. These are things that I’ve been writing about steadily, but here is a shocking video interview with several charedi young men which demonstrates their perspective:

The arrogance, the ignorance, the selfishness - it’s all horrifying. But it would be a mistake to dismiss this as the juvenile rantings of 18-year-olds. It comes straight from the top. The rabbinic and political leaders of the charedi world all state the same.

That’s why they are currently withdrawing from the government. Of the over 80,000 charedim who evade conscription, a mere 10,000 would go a long way to addressing the IDF manpower crisis. But it’s been nearly two years and they haven’t even done that. They are simply not interested in helping the nation. And to add insult to injury, they accuse everyone else of being engaged in a war against Torah, showing no sympathy whatsoever for the millions of people affected by their selfish choices. The leadership made a particularly sickening statement accusing others of “cynically exploiting the pain of families” and “causing a rift in the nation”!

And this horrifying detachment from the Jewish people, which causes so much harm to the nation, is aided and abetted by virtually everyone in the Likud, along with the so-called “National Religious” party and the so-called “Jewish Strength” party. The only person holding his ground (somewhat) is Yuli Edelstein. And Bibi has promptly offered to the charedi parties that he will fire Edelstein!
