The National Geographic Collaboration
The Biblical Museum of Natural History expands its reach!
Among our varied partnerships, one of our most treasured is that with National Geographic. Their Israel branch produces a special magazine for religious and charedi children, titled Niflaot Olam. This is free of content that would be problematic for those communities, namely dinosaurs, evolution, and females. While of course I have no problem with such content, it is very important to cater for sectors of the population who do have such sensitivities. We've been running a monthly column in Niflaot Olam for a while, and now we co-published a special edition which is entirely focused on the museum!
National Geographic is sending several thousand copies to its subscribers, and we printed another ten thousand to make available for our visitors. The magazine enriches the museum experience and provides a way for people to take it home with them and learn more about what they have seen. Pick up your copy in our gift store for just 10 shekels!
I would like to thank Drs. Chana and Chaim (Gary) Gelbfish of New York, whose generous outreach grant has enabled us to expand the impact of the museum far beyond the tour in all kinds of ways, including not just National Geographic, but also teacher training workshops, multimedia programs for schools, and educational videos.
Its not evolution that's the problem in tjsew magazines... it's the terrible pop references and consumerism.
How does נפלאות עולם stand with regards to those?
That's amazing!
