When u buy a presumed antique (which this was not), the patina is considered good. Do not polish it off. It would be like polishing the Statue of Liberty back to its original bronze color.

There's a Moslem architured dome on a yeshiva building in New York.

The gold was taken off in the 1930s depression era to help make ends meet, financially.

Though there are better uses for the funds, I would somewhat like to see the gold restored.
