How do you make headway with the seemingly impossible task of persuading the charedi world that their opposition to civic responsibilities is wrong, harmful, dangerous, and anti-Torah?
A few weeks ago, I reported on the remarkable initiative of the woman who managed to get into the Keren Olam HaTorah philanthropist’s retreat and spread literature showing the important truths that the organization tries to hide from its donors. I’ve thought of other creative ways in which outreach could be done with charedim. But these things need resources, human and otherwise, to pull off.
I came up with the idea of putting together a team. A small team, for confidentiality reasons. And there would be specific roles required:
A brainstormer
An English writer
A Hebrew writer (with yeshiva training and knowledge of how to write for charedi audiences)
A graphic designer
A computer/web techie
A gopher (someone who can execute various tasks)
A sponsor (for various print materials and for distribution)
A publicist who is able to push messages in the correct venues, whether media outlets or social media
And finally, a role that is often overlooked but is critical: A pusher. Someone who will doggedly keep pushing the process along.
These would all be volunteer roles (unless someone wishes to sponsor people for such roles). Personally I have far too many projects on my plate to be able to devote significant time to such an enterprise, though I could probably manage the brainstormer role. But this forum is a great resource for networking, and I’d like to see if this would make it possible to put such a team together. If you think that you could provide one of the other roles, please email me. (Note that I have a backlog of hundreds of emails, so I can’t promise a response to this or any email.)
