Immediately after extubation you are classified as NPO, nothing per oral for several hours to ensure you don’t choke and in case you need to be reintubated. This is standard procedure. So the soldier asked for water and it was refused because of his medical status. His brother didn’t know or understand the medical protocol and believed they were withholding water from his brother purposely.
If a patient is agitated as most are after initial extubation, family and anyone else other than medical personnel are kept away to ensure if a crisis develops it can be handled without interference. This is simply ICU protocol. Nothing more. Nothing less than standard care.
Great so you want chareidi doctors who with their tzizit dragging from bed to bed as they lean over causing nosocomial infections….when they learn to accommodate modern science and medical practice they can study.
