I have a challenge for today's charedim. Find one authority living in Europe before World War II who claimed that those learning Torah full time in yeshiva protect us from our enemies

My son also went to Yeshivat Maalot. Look, it's obvious this is all about ₪₪ and threats to the coalition. If they are out of the government after the coming election, they will really regret their intransigence.

As someone who routinely takes issue with your posts, I'm getting annoyed by the fact that I've been agreeing with your posts more and more. In all honesty, I hope you have been deliberately finding the right tone that reflects standing up for what's right and being harsh as appropriate instead of just expressing what feels like hatred and driving wedges deeper for no constructive reason. That's what is usually feels like and as justifiable as you find it emotionally, your voice is too important to hide behind that. Your voice makes a difference.

I keep saying those collecting money for these Yeshivas need to be named and shamed. A list needs to be circulated in America for religious Jews to see. People outside of Israel thinking they are donating for some noble purpose of learning Torah need to know, what selfish, narcissistic, shirkers these people are. The Chilul Hashem they are committing. There is no low they will not stoop to. Like the Fakestinians, they turn themselves into the victims. It’s stomach churning. Once again, I thank Rabbi Dr. Nathan Slifkin for exposing them and raising the alarm. I’ve been a supporter of his for a very long time. His work is invaluable. Everyone should purchase a copy of his book, Lions of Zion to have in their library(and no I’m not getting paid to promote the book). It is a very important resource for Jews, especially in the fight against our enemies who constantly appropriate our history from the Land of Israel.

You write such valuable, critical and valid posts, don’t ruin it by lowering yourself. I know it was not your intention, and your words did not compare or contrast, but there is no need to mention the list of our enemies including nazis along with our brothers who are unfortunately misguided and need kiruv. Please continue to be the English speaking voice, educating and explaining what should be obvious to every Jew. Many thanks

Writing new lyrics to songs of your opponents has a long history.

The US National Anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner", was written to the tune of a British drinking song:

Union soldiers sang their own version of "Dixie" during the American Civil War.

Felix Mendelssohn wrote some German patriotic music "Festgesang zum Gutenbergfest" for a festival honoring Johannes Gutenberg. After his death, part of it would be used to the words of a Christian hymn by Charles Wesley and George Whitefield, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing". But the tune works equally well to the words of "Maoz Tzur"! I love reappropriating it on Chanukah.
