Regarding the ship sinking: The US warned the crew to abandon it (in lifeboats), and only after the commander refused did they sink it.

So the sinking was clearly justified. However, the reaction of certain US public figures who talked about the attack as a fun video game explosion rather than military necessity was disgraceful.

Combat ships are always legitimate targets in a war.

The US sub should have surfaced and rescued survivors. That's the humanitarian thing to do. Also, POWs are bargaining chips.

I have been on both a similarly sized surface ship, and on a submarine. Submarines are much smaller. No way it could rescue the entire crew.

There is not enough room in a submarine to hold the rescued survivors - enemy combatants - safely. Space in a submarine is extremely limited.

The personnel on the ship would have been prisoners of war if they were rescued. The US would have been responsible for their welfare.

Hegseth glories in death. He’s disgusting….

I agree, and he also seems in over his head with this war, but the Mullahs and IRGC are even more disgusting!

This was a well described reality of the current war situation.
