Want to learn all about lions and other amazing animals in the Torah? I can offer some new ways to do so - in the US, in Israel, in Africa, and also in Hebrew!
First of all, my book The Lions of Zion: Biblical Natural History and the Significance of Israel is currently on sale (along with my other books) on the museum website, for customers both in Israel and abroad (make sure to select the correct store location). I filmed an ad for it the other week when I had a unique encounter with some incredible creatures in Ohio. Make sure you have the sound up when you watch this, so you can hear the sounds they make at the end:
I also recorded a longer video when I was with these extraordinary and fearsome beasts, which you can watch on the FaceBook page of the Biblical Museum of Natural History. (The reason why I look very nervous in that video is that I was very nervous.) If you’d like to learn more about honey badgers in the Torah, you can read about them in The Torah Encyclopedia of the Animal Kingdom.
Meanwhile, The Lions of Zion also just came out in Hebrew, and it’s available from the museum website at the above link. I’ll also be giving a talk on this topic tomorrow evening, Tuesday at 8pm at the Soloveitchik shul (in English!) in Ramat Beit Shemesh, where I will have all my books available for purchase.
I’m also thrilled to announce that after a hiatus of several years, I am once again presenting African safaris! In contrast to previous trips, the next one, in May, will take place in Tanzania and Zanzibar. We will be visiting such places as the Arusha Jewish community, the Ngorongoro Crater, the famed Serengeti, Stone Town, and Mnemba Island. For the itinerary and details, see the Torah In Motion website; there’s an early-bird special if you book soon. Yes, it’s extremely expensive, but as one past participant I met again last week told me, it was the greatest trip they ever did in their entire life!
