Now the government is going to cease arresting Charedi draft dodgers and Goldknopf has the audacity to claim that the real draft dodgers are in Tel-Aviv. Why is this man a member of Knesset? He has complete contempt for secular and Dati Jews that serve in the army and has the outright hubris to claim that Israel wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for those studying Torah. Meanwhile my friend’s son is in Givati, serving in Lebanon, while my other friend son serves elsewhere and her daughter is in reserves. They are fed up with how this current government placates these shirkers. As I have said many times before, enough is enough. Cut off the spigot of funding to these rabbis and these Yeshivas ASAP, and don’t put Bibi back in office.

Actually, I have heard (only anecdotally, admittedly) that indeed there are LOTS of chiloni Tel Aviv folks who have also dodged the army. I only wish there were other chilonim that would call them out. We need both charedim and chilonim in the army.
After an amazing month with no one in combat (though our daughter is very much in the army), we start again-- 101 days. 6 kids. He should be exempt, but they need him. His wife told him to go..who are we to say anything... For the first time in my life, I may need medication to get through this one..
How right you are! The cluelessness is deliberate as a facade for the callousness. Again we see here the suffering and troubles caused in the name of religion and religious beliefs. These chareidim are not following the path of the Torah but rather their own aberrant “teachings”
The members of the Charedi community betray their people, their Torah, their history and their God, and the gifts he has granted them to live in Eretz Yisrael.
Their teachers lie as they hide, deny, and distort the truth. They ignore the tragic cost of thinking “Torah will protect us” during the 1930s and 1940s. Or the expulsion from Spain, the terrors of the pogroms, the Cusades, the Chmielnicki Massacres, the Arab Conquests, etc.
If/when “push comes to shove” will they stand behind soldiers and pray, or will they do something to defend themselves? If their choice is the latter, how will they know what to do?
