They speak of Torah scholars, but rejected a deal that would only require drafting of haredim who are NOT learning. All the scholars would have to do is scan their fingerprint upon entering and leaving the Beis HaMedrash, no different than what regular employees have to do. Obviously, this has nothing to do with protecting scholars, but with protecting haredi culture.
The so-called scholars would have had nothing to worry about, had they accepted the deal.
Maybe you could send this article to that reporter at Mishpacha magazine and ask him if this is what he meant when he titled his article "The Rabbonim Know Best".
How can a person accept the protection of the 'Zionist' IDF and also claim that the 'evil Zionists' would put them in gas chambers? Do some of these people realize how idiotic they sound?
If someone doesn't want the protection of the IDF they should leave Israel. Period. The very fact that one is breathing within the borders of the state of Israel means the IDF is protecting them.
If you've ever crossed even a single machsom, you know that the IDF is protecting you.
These examples are deeply troubling. It is imperative that the mainstream Jewish community acknowledge and call out this unacceptable behaviour. The Charedim must initiate change from within, striving to become a group that seeks to contribute positively to society. Until that happens, this problem will likely worsen. Treating them—in words, thoughts, and actions—as an extreme fringe group may help address the issue.
“Meanwhile, in the US, charedi publications won’t even report on the extreme things that are happening, because they would rather ignore problems, whitewash the situation, and keep the charedi leadership on a pedestal. As countless yeshivish Americans tell me, it’s lashon hara to report what charedi rabbis proudly do in the name of Torah. So here’s what you’ll miss learning about.”
That exactly what a cousin of mine in America basically said to me when I sent her your last post.

The Haredim DO believe that God is in charge of everything. Some of them also believe that Donald J. Trump is God.
....And this we call Torah.
How revolting.

It's so absurd to call something lashon hara when the rabbis involved believe in their position and want it to be broadcast.
