Heading Out

We are heading out now to Madikwe game reserve, for the final days of our trip. There's sixteen of us, which means that we have to split up and go via two planes.

When the plane gets there, it's going to make a low pass over the airstrip first, to scare away any animals that might be there. Colliding with a rhino would be a real pain in the neck.

I said tefilas haderech this morning with extra special kavanah!

Bonus picture: the menu from the safari lodge in Botswana.

  1. Remember to say "...u-mi-kol minei purhinot ha-mitrag'shot la-vo la-olam"
PS: The menu reminds me of the famous "Trefa Banquet" menu.

  2. What impresses me is not the menu, it's the prices. Which are about half of what you might pay for a reasonably equivalent dish in New York City.

    1. "equivalent dish"? I assume you mean everything except for the Ox tail and Grilled Warthog.

  3. how was the warthog?

  4. What was the substitute kosher menu??? (Tuna sandwiches?)

  5. How is your daughter?

  6. Why 'entertain' us with a treif menu? Besides, I don't know if eating game is ecologically sound.

Thank GOD your daughter appears to have recovered nicely from that injury.

    Y. Aharon

  7. At least there's hope for a kosher guinea fowl lasagne. Based on the testimony of an Algerian shochet in Tzfat, guinea fowl was included in the famous exotic kosher dinner organized by Ari Greenspan and Ari Zivotofsky in 2010:

  8. Come back hardebeest! I just want to make you kosher!

  9. I love it - * contains nut products. Are nut allergies becoming more common in Africa also?

  10. Do they have take out? Are you taking orders to bring back to RBS?
